Slow Textiles Retreat with Sasha Duerr + Katrina Rodabaugh
Join artists and sustainable fashion authors, Sasha Duerr + Katrina Rodabaugh, for this special weekend retreat at the inspiring Echoview Fiber Mill in Weaverville, NC.
The retreat will lead participants through sessions on natural dyes, mending, and reinvigorating fibers for art, homegoods, or wearable garments. Activities will include foraging, harvesting, and preparing dye plants from the Echoview Fiber Mill garden and nearby surroundings; mending and repairing an existing garment with Katrina's individual attention; learning to use mordants, extract saturated dyes from plants, and adjust color with modifiers with Sasha; and delving deeper into placed-based creative practices that lead to more mindful, meaningful, and sustainable living.
Sasha + Katrina will share generous insights into their studio practices and textile techniques; discuss how to select quality fibers, tools, and plants; and engage directly with the rural atmosphere of Echoview Fiber Mill and surrounding Asheville, NC. Two local lunches will be provided along with tea and snacks throughout. Friday night launches with a welcoming reception while Saturday and Sunday workshops will allow time for breaks and lunches. All materials included, aside from your garment to mend.
Registration is $595.00. Please email ggouin@echoviewnc.com with any questions!
Friday, April 12 from 4-6pm; Saturday, April 13 from 10-5pm; and Sunday, April 14 from 10-5pm.
